Done Deal: Man United agree terms on £37.5m defender, contract signed

Argentina's Ole reported late on Wednesday that Manchester United had agreed a deal to sign Nicolas Otamendi from Valencia. Manchester United have repeatedly been linked with a move for the defender, who has a €50m buyout clause. During the winter transfer window there were claims from the Valencia media that Manchester United had made a €35m bid for the player, which was turned down by Valencia, with Otamendi being crucial to their side and perhaps the best central defender in Spanish football this season. There was aways the worry of Manchester United returning for the summer window.
Argentine newspaper Ole say that an agreement between Manchester United and Otamendi is in place and has even been signed. They state that a fee still needs to be agreed between Valencia and Manchester United but if the Premier League club are buying Otamendi for his buyout clause then that wouldn't be an issue for anyone involved.
Ole believe that Otamendi will move to Manchester United after participating in the Copa America for Argentina this summer, although if a deal is done announcements would surely be expected before that tournament. The claims from Argentina interestingly come at the same time as claims from German newspaper Bild that Mats Hummels is now staying with Borussia Dortmund.
