According to a BBC report earlier this evening, some gunmen suspected to be members of the Boko Hram sect attacked a military base in Buni Yadi, in Gujba LGA, Yobe State killing 24 personnel, at about 5pm today. Residents of the area asserted that the gunmen -who came in 10 Hilux vans, an armored tank and several motorcycles- gunned down 13 soldiers and 11 police officers.
BBC Hausa Service reports that the gunmen cautioned residents to stay indoors to avoid getting hit by stray bullets as their targets were strictly security officials. The men then proceeded to attack the military base, a local government secretariat and burnt down several buildings.
