Buhari Won’t Be President In 2015 – Cleric
An Enugu- based Prophet Anthony Nwoko has predicted that neither President Goodluck Jonathan of the ruling Peoples Democratic Party nor his opponent, Gen. Muhammad Buhari of the All Progressives Congress(APC) would be president after next month’s election. It would be recalled that Nwoko, who briefed newsmen in Enugu yesterday on the state of the nation, had in 1993 prophesied the end of the military regime of former head of state, Gen. Ibrahim Babangida(rtd). In 1998, he also prophesied that late military ruler, Gen. Sani Abacha, would leave governance of Nigeria in a mysterious way.He lamented that the nation was turning very ungodly, saying, “I had told IBB in 1993 to leave office and it happened and in 1998, I prophesied that Abacha would leave office mysteriously, and you saw what happened”.On the current Jonathan presidency and the prospects of his re-election, Nwoko said, “In 2010, I told Nigerians that they should not expect much or any miracle from Jonathan. Now, in this coming election, Jonathan will only serve as John the Baptist and Buhari has not got any heavenly crown to rule and he will not rule this country because he hasn’t got that crown.“Don’t take my prophesies for granted because I had also told Gen. Abdulsalam Abubakar not to make Obasanjo president and I had also warned Gen. Obasanjo not to make late former President Yar’Adua president and my advice was not heeded and you saw what happened”, he pointed out. When asked what would happen since he has prophesied that the two leading presidential candidates would not be president after February elections, the 64- year old prophet said “I can see the glory of Nigeria in the South East and I don’t agree with Wole Soyinka that Jonathan is Nebuchadnezzar ; Jonathan is a forerunner to the glory of God”.Reacting to recent comments by fiery Enugu Catholic cleric, Rev. Fr. Ejike Mabaka, Prophet Nwoko said he was not condemning the priest but “I want to tell him that I can see the glory of God in the South”.The prophet said he is not married even at his advanced age of 64 and that he has nohome of his own and has not set his feet on the soil of his Umuahia country home inAbia State in the past 45 years, saying he would only visit Umuahia after accomplishing the prophetic task for which he was called home from America by God.
Nigeria names new head of Securities Commission
A new Director General of the Securities and Exchange Commission, SEC, was on Monday named. He is Mounir Gwarzo, the incumbent Executive Commissioner (Operations) of the Commission, who is expected to perform in acting capacity till a substantive official is appointed. The appointment of Mr. Gwarzo, followed the exit of Arunma Oteh, whose five years tenure at the capital market regulatory agency lapsed on Sunday. The outgoing Director General, who named Mr. Gwarzo at the formal handover ceremony at the Commission’s headquarters in Abuja, described her time at the helm of the Commission as “absolutely outstanding”.Ms. Oteh’s spoke about the co-operation she received from every member of staff, saying when she joined SEC in January 2010, she was not only certain about its importance, butalso what its role and agenda which was to have a vision “building a world class market” capital market operators, shareholders and other stakeholders were able to connect and align with, she said. She said her time was very rewarding. What SEC was able to achieve, Ms. Oteh explained, was a foundation for the country tosee a capital market that would help tackle itsinfrastructure challenges to help new and existing businesses raise capital.“Our aim is to build a meritocracy for viable businesses to get funded, not necessarily the ones that have connections, so that we can also tackle some of what we are seeing in ourworld today, whether security challenges the country face or everyone else,” Ms. Oteh said.Ms. Oteh joined SEC at a time the Nigerian capital market was grappling with global financial market crisis. She was acknowledged to have contributed significantly to the effort to rescue the capital market from the losses as a result of the global financial crisis. From a market capitalization of N4.99 trillion in January 2010 when she took over, various reform measures raised Nigerian Stock Exchange, NSE capitalization to over N14 trillion in 2014.Consequently, the market rating, which rose by 35 per cent in 2012 to about 47 per cent in 2013, was amongst the ten best performing markets in the world that same year.Mr. Gwarzo, 50, was born in Kano and attended the Bayero University, Kano, graduating with a Bachelor’s degree in Economics in 1987.In 1991, he attended University of Birmingham, United Kingdom where he obtained a post-graduate degree in Development Finance. An Associate Member of the Chartered Institute of Stock Brokers; Mr. Gwarzo became a Fellow of the Institute in 2005.He has worked in Nigerian Capital Market both as an operator and as a regulator developing a career spanning over 25 years. The institutions he worked with include Ministry of Trade, Kano State; Nigerian Stock Exchange, Century Merchant Bank Limited, Empire Securities Limited, Securities and Exchange Commission, Federal Mortgage Bank of Nigeria and MTL Global Investment Limited. He is married and widely traveled.
Oil Crisis: Buhari demands immediate reduction in fuel prices
The presidential candidate of the All Progressives Congress, APC, Muhammadu Buhari, has called on the Nigerian government to implement immediate price reduction on fuel products to reflect the downscaling in global oil prices.Speaking through his campaign organization, the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council, on Monday, Mr. Buhari asked the government to “stop stealing from Nigerians and allow them enjoy the relief that has come to consumers of petroleum products globally”.A statement from the Directorate of Media and Publicity of the APC presidential campaign said it was disturbing that in spite of the fall in the global price of crude oil, Nigerians still buy petroleum products at pump prices as if the global price of crude oil had remained at $100 (USD) per barrel. The statement said: “The current attempt by the government to deregulate the prices of some petroleum products has been completely compromised to satisfy few money bags to the detriment of the Nigerian people and the economy.“The price of diesel which has been deregulated since 2009 still sells at the pump price of N150 and N170 per litre, the same pump price when the international benchmarkper barrel of crude was over $100. Now that the international benchmark has dropped to$47.5 (USD) per barrel as at Monday, we ask: where is the deregulation and the relief which it ought to bring to local consumers of diesel? “For the Nigerian consumers, unfortunately the collapse of crude oil price since October 2014 has not translated into any change in diesel, kerosene and PMS prices across the country.“We challenge the federal government to reconcile the information on the website of the Petroleum Products Pricing and Regulatory Agency, indicating the maximum open market price of diesel per litre in December 2014 as being at N111.6 and the fact that the price has come down to less than $50 (USD) as at Monday.“We want to posit that that the maximum indicative benchmark open consumers of diesel should pay is at a margin below N100 per litre. Therefore, Nigerians are being short-changed by about N50 to N70 on every litre ofdiesel sold by government.“The implication of this is that with average consumption of about 12 to 15 million litres, Nigerians are currently extorted of amounts between N600 Million to N1 Billion daily due to corruption-induced poor regulatory oversight of the Ministry of Petroleum Resources. No wonder some few industry players are smiling to the banks and buying private jets while small scale industrialists who buy diesel on daily basis for power generation and transportation find it difficult to break-even with their businesses.“Similarly on Kerosene, information available on the website of the PPPRA puts the Open Market Price at N114.71 per litre although the market price is anything above N150 per litre when the global price for a barrel of crude oil was $65 (USD). Now that international price of crude is at $47.5 (USD) per barrel, why are Nigerians still buying kerosene per litre at the same price? Why are Nigerians not benefitting from the global shortfall in the prices of crude by having a cut in the pump prices of petroleum products?“We are aware that there are examples in other African countries where governments have cut the pump prices of petroleum products to reflect the changes in the global oil market. Countries like South Africa, Zambia, Tanzania and Kenya have announced cuts in pump prices of petroleum products, why can’t the Nigerian government do same?“Given the failure of government to do the right thing by announcing a cut in the pump prices of these products, we are compelled to draw the conclusion that the federal government is short-changing Nigerians ostensibly to fund the campaign of the PDP presidential candidate.“The APC Presidential Campaign challenges the federal government to make explanations on why Nigerians cannot benefit pricing reliefs on petroleum products as occasioned by the fall in the global price of crude oil. Anything should of this is a fraud and Nigerians should take note.“As for PMS (petrol) the only product the government agrees as regulated at N97 per litre, the irony is that it does not even cost much as in the United States, a country that was importing oil from Nigeria until recently.“Moreover, even the current budget is still heavy on subsidy with an allocation of N458.68 billion, a scheme that has become a conduit pipe over the years for which the children of ruling party leaders have been beneficiaries.”
Buhari hates Yoruba people with passion, he must apologise to us – Adeyeye
Minister of State for Works, Prince Adedayo Adeyeye has insisted that the presidential flag bearer of All Progressives Congress, APC, Major General Muhammadu Buhari must apologize to the Yoruba ethnic group over what he tagged as his unrepentant ‘hatred’ for the people. According to Adeyeye, before the people of Southwest could vote for Buhari, he must tender an unreserved public apology to the people of the zone. In a statement, which was personally signed by him and made available to the newsmen in Ado Ekiti yesterday, Adeyeye, who reviewed all the programmes and policies of the APC presidential candidate while he was the Head of State and also the chairman of the Petroleum Trust Fund, PTF, said Buhari was number one enemy of the Yoruba. Adeyeye said, “Buhari did not only cancel the Metro line project, he went ahead to pay what was enough to complete the project as compensation to the French company that handled the project.“The idea of developing rapid transit in Lagos dated from the 1980s with the Lagos metro line network conceived by the Alhaji Lateef Jakande during the Second Republic.“The Metro line project was scrapped in 1985 by Buhari at a loss of over $78m to the Lagos tax payers. Information on the Metro line Project is on Wikipedia for everyone to see.“If Buhari had not cancelled that project out of hatred for the Yoruba people, transportation in Lagos would have been better than it is now and one can begin to imagine the number of lives and investments that had been lost to Buhari’s wickedness.
“Everything that Awolowo did for us in Yoruba land, Buhari undone. Buhari was even planning to merge the University of Ibadan with Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife when he was removed”.However, the Publicity Secretary of the APC in Ekiti, Taiwo Olatunbosun, said Buhari was not an enemy of the Yoruba and asked Adeyeye to list the benefits he had brought to Ekiti since his appointment as a minister. Olatunbosun said, “Buhari has contributed more to the development of the nation. Most of the federal roads in Ekiti, including Ondo, were duly tarred with high grade materials by the Petroleum Trust Fund under Buhari as the chairman.“To show our respect for Awolowo, our vice Presidential candidate, Prof. Yemi Osibajo, is a grand son in-law to the late sage.“Adeyeye should tell us which of the federal projects we are enjoying from Jonathan. Even he (Adeyeye) as the minister of works, many federal roads were awarded without Ekiti getting any.
“He should tell us what Ekiti would benefit from him as the Minister of State for Works and not tell us who to vote for because he is not qualified to speak on behalf of Ekiti people.”

First Ladies Don’t Spend Government Money – Jonathan - Politics - Nairaland
President Goodluck Jonathan has said that occupants of the offices of the first lady across the nation “are not spending government money,” even though the platform has become veritable means of mobilising women for national development. The President’s position was a response to the complaints on social media that the offices constitute unnecessary burden to government, as they have become avenues through which public resources are frittered away. The President, in an argument tweeted by hisSpecial Assistant on New Media, Reno Omokri, said, “I can tell you that these offices(of first ladies) are helping to mobilise the women.”He boasted that his administration had made remarkable achievements in women empowerment, with several women getting key political appointments.“Nigerian women, I don’t believe that you are designed by God to pound yam for me, to be a baby factory,” he said. The President also did self-evaluation on keyareas of governance on Monday as the campaign trains of the two leading presidential contenders moved around the country.Among the areas he mentioned was education. If re-elected, he said, he would notbuild prisons for Nigerians but more schools.Apparently referring to the candidate of the All Progressives Congress, Major-General Mohammadu Buhari, he said many office seekers had started promising what they had opportunity to do but never did in the past.“I believe in you, I love you. We will work hardto improve the quality of our lives. A lot of people are coming to deceive you that they will do things they had opportunity to do that they never did. This government has built more tertiary institutions than any other government. We’ve built 14 universities.“We are creating future leaders. We don’t believe that you must be of a very high age to lead,” Jonathan, who is seeking a second term, said.He promised to use technology to deal with graft, a national disgrace his administration has been severely accused of, saying several people have used corruption to enrich themselves. In a response to the Baga attack where scores were killed, the President said he had ordered the National Security Adviser to givea “comprehensive report to Nigerians.”He continued, “We are encouraging young graduates to go into farming and be the future millionaires and billionaires.”Jonathan was also quoted by Omokri as saying that the Peoples Democratic Party was the highest shareholder in APC – a party he also described as “a subsidiary of PDP.” He based his judgment on the number of ex-PDP members “in charge” of the opposition party.Meanwhile, the Buhari social media teams on Monday also gave minute-by-minute account of the APC’s activities in Imo and other parts of the country. The retired general told Nigerians, “Get your Permanent Voters Cards. Make sure you vote; make sure you defend your vote. Make sure that your voice is heard.”The Buhari Presidential Campaign coordinator and Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, said Jonathan should not expect votes from Imo indigenes because hedid not do anything for them. He challenged the President to tell the Igbos what he had done for them. Also on twitter, the APC Chairman, John Oyegun, wondered why the people should not be tired of the lies they had endured in the past 16 years. If nothing else, he said, they should be “tired of epileptic electricity.”A former minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nasir el-Rufai, lambasted the Jonathan administration for the Baga attack. He said it was shameful the government could not discuss its occurrence even though it debated the number of casualties.Amid the intense political horse trading, news of confirmation by the United States Army College that Buhari, indeed, graduated from the school went viral on social media. The confirmation letter that was purportedly issued by Carrol Kerr of the Public Affairs Office of the institution said Buhari graduated with a diploma in 1980.
2015: Buhari Will Be Humiliated – South East PDP
divisiveness and violence is a vexatious stigma that makes support for it a cardinal sin among the peace loving people of the zone”.
solidly in support of the PDP and will deliver a block vote for President Jonathan and all our candidates in the February elections. We therefore wish to advise the APC, its Presidential candidate as well as other candidates not to waste energy in the zone,” the party said.
of the old Anambra state, Senator Jim Nwobodo through a heartless Kangaroo trial that threw justice to the dogs. The extra judicial killing of innocent citizens is scar that even hyssop can’t wash,” the PDP said.
