President Jonathan has proposed a bill before the Senate, emphasizing death penalty for anyone guilty of cyber crime. Suffice to say, the bill -which is titled Cyber Crime Bill 2013- seeks to put on death penalty, anyone found guilty of hacking into Criminal National Information Infrastructure or any computer network that would lead to loss of lives.
Furthermore, with clarity and a broader explanation, the Cyber Crime Bill 2013 is proposed to address all forms of cyber crime within the cyberspace. Also, the bill proposes a life sentence for anyone guilty of using computer networks to project terrorism acts. In a situation where there is no loss of life, but causes grave bodily harm, the bill proposes a jail term of not less than 15months to the offender.
It also seeks to punish those found guilty of child pornography with a 10-year prison term or a fine of N20 million, or both.
The bill defines Critical National Information Infrastructure as 'certain computer systems, networks information infrastructure vital to the national security of Nigeria or the economy & social well-being of its citizen'.
In a nutshell, he is saying "Yahoo Yahoo boys be warned!"
