A UK-based Nigerian man, Chris Chidi Dinneya 40 has
been jailed for swindling an 81-year old UK pensioner from Cambridge of a
whooping £300,000 out of his life savings. Dinneya who has bagged a three and a half year jail term, had
told the old man -who has not been named- that he was a lucky winner of the
Spanish Lottery and the victim believed that he was set to land an avalanche of
Euros, so much that he continued to forward money to Dinneya in the confidence
that it would eventually get him his winnings even after Police commenced investigation.
Police and a County Council were forced to apply for
a court order to take control of the aged sufferer’s bank account to prevent
him from sending more cash to the conman, Dinneya.
A slew of huge payments were traced to Dinneya who
was promptly arrested. He was convicted on money laundering charges and jailed
for a total of three and a half years on March 4.
