It has been reported earlier today that Nigeria's President Goodluck Jonathan has canceled an already planned trip to the Chibok- the Borno town where over 200 girls were abducted almost a month ago.
BBC states that according to sources, the President would visit Chibok, on his way to a conference in France on the increasing menace of the Boko Haram sect.
But this morning, reports have filled the air that he has called off the trip for security reasons.
BBC's correspondent in Nigeria, Gabriel Gatehouse has described the situation as saying "the cancellation of this visit underlines just how fragile the security situation is in the north-east".
Nigerian Military Intelligence 'Dumb'?
A troubling development! US officials on Thursday criticised the speed of Nigeria's response to the
threat from Boko Haram.
Director for African affairs at the US
defence department, Alice Friend, said its security forces had been "slow to adapt with
new strategies and new tactics".
She also
said the US was unable to offer aid to Nigeria's military because of
"troubling" atrocities perpetrated by some units during operations
against Boko Haram.
"We cannot ignore that Nigeria can be an extremely
challenging partner to work with," Ms Friend said.
